Our Green School Committee oversees the implementation of the Green School programme in our school. We have already been awarded six Green Flags by An Taisce for the successful implementation of our Green School programme. These include flags for Litter and Waste management, Energy, Water, Travel, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship: Litter and Waste.
We have successfully implemented a litter and waste management programme, made huge strides in conserving both energy and water in our school and also adopted sustainable travel methods when possible, while travelling to and from school.
Over the past two years, we have been working on the theme of Global Citizenship: Energy, with the aim of achieving our seventh Green Flag this year. Through the Green School programme, we have become more aware of our local natural environment and the birds, minibeasts, trees and plants that surround us and ways of protecting our environment both at home and at school.
This year we gave the boys a challenge to create their own Halloween decoration from recyclable materials. They didn't disappoint us with their artist and imaginative mind.
